Omiya Honten

A good retro vibe deep fried skewer shop near tourist spot. Unlike many other similar shops, this shop does not have big posters and decorations and they close early. We waited roughly 40 mins when arrived around 7pm and managed to get in last round before last order. There is Chinese and English menu available and Google translator can do a reasonable job on the menu while you are waiting outside in the line. We didn’t have a lot deep fried skewer shop in Osaka so cannot comment too much on the taste. It’s nice to eat with the sauce and the cabbage on side is for free. Finally we got some of our orders missed but the old lady kindly checked for us and deduct that from the amount. I think this is an authentic and enjoyable experience.

Excellent authentic kushikatsu place. Most visitors are local. Not your usual tourist kushikatsu. Bigger portions, better taste.

This Kushikatsu is on another level! We visited another chain kushikatsu store the day before in Dotonbori. We thought it was nice. We had no idea how good Omiya's kushikatsu is in comparison. The locals and staff give the place an immaculate vibe. Visit if you can!!

行列が絶えない串カツ界の重鎮、近江屋さん本店にお邪魔しました 本日頂いたのは、以外 (税込) 盛り合わせ6串 (¥1,290)、串カツ (¥100) うずら卵 (¥170)、マグロほほ肉 (¥170)、青と (¥170) 名物「本家串かつ」はフワフワの衣と中に隠れる牛スジが堪らん逸品です 衣は独特で、フリッターっぽい仕上がりなんですよね。 食べ放題のキャベツは、そのままでも、秘伝ソースをすくうためのスプーン代わりに使ったりして頂きます。 ソースのニ度漬け禁止やでぇ〜！ 美味しかった、ご馳走さまでした
